Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel in Whistler Review

March 4, 2021

We were lucky enough to spend 3 nights at the amazing Summit Lodge Hotel in Whistler over the past weekend.

Are you planning a trip to Whistler? The Summit Lodge Hotel is perfect as it is situated right in the village.

Lucky for us, it’s a two-hour drive from Vancouver. During winter, it’s literally a winter wonderland and such a magical and beautiful place to be.

We love vacationing in Whistler during all seasons. But something about winter and the mountains just makes it even more special during these months.

We had a big birthday trip planned for Milan’s birthday in February, but for obvious reasons, we had to cancel.

We were very grateful that Summit Lodge Hotel invited us to stay at their beautiful hotel, for Milan’s birthday weekend.

Summit Lodge is situated in the heart of the village right by the Olympic Oval and walking distance to many fabulous restaurants, bars, and cafes.

Summit Lodge Hotel Covid-19 Protocols

First and foremost I want to discuss Summit Lodge Hotel’s Covid-19 safety plan.  Summit Lodge definitely made sure that their guests stayed safe and followed all Covid-19 protocols.

As you enter the hotel, right away you’ll see a sign to place sanitize.  There is also a sign at the front desk that says wear your mask. Masks are required in hotel common areas including the lobby, elevator, pool area, and hallway. If you don’t have a mask you can grab one from the lobby entrance.

Their check-in is contact-free. IDs are shown through plexiglass and are not handled at all.  When you checkout you place your keys in a dropbox and complete the checkout with your front desk agent.

Also, keep in mind that they are not allowed to hold any luggage at this time (for example, when you check out of the hotel but still want to walk around the village).  You are allowed to leave it at your own risk in the lobby where it will be watched by the front desk agents.

The pool also has a one-hour time slot for each guest to ensure that there aren’t too many people congregating at the pool or hot tub.

Because of Covid-19, there was no room service which we were fine with.  If it makes keeping everyone safe and healthy then I’m all for it.

Overall, I can say that they really made sure their guests stayed safe by following all Covid-19 protocols.

Summit Lodge Hotel Location

Summit Lodge Hotel

The location of the Summit Lodge Hotel is superb! It’s located in the North Village (my absolute favorite area in the village).

Summit Lodge Hotel is located on Main Street and is in close proximity to Market Place, Olympic Plaza (where the Olympic rings are located), the skating rink, and the tabogganing area for children (during wintertime).

There’s also a really lovely playground close by that Milan loved playing at.

I love this area because there are so many picture-perfect areas to take photos and so much space for Milan to run wild.

Some restaurants, bakeries, and cafes that we love which are within walking distance from Summit Lodge are:

  • Elements (in the hotel)
  • Sachi Sushi (in the hotel)
  • Drop Coffee (in the hotel)
  • Green Mustache Organic Cafe (really lovely fresh-pressed juice)
  • Purebread Bakery (my absolute fav)
  • Crepe Montagne
  • The Corner Deli
  • Alta Bistro
  • Peaked Pies
  • Hunter Gather
  • Starbucks
  • Blenz

Summit Lodge Hotel Check-In & Check-Out

the check-in at Sumit Lodge was a breeze.  My husband and Milan waited in the parking garage as I checked in.  Parking is $21 a day.

They do take a credit card as a damage deposit and also went over the amenities as well.

Once they gave me my room key I met my husband and Milan in the parking garage, which has to be open with the room key.

They have trolleys that you can take from the lobby to help transport your luggage into the room (totally made my husband do all of this LOL).

I loved the personal birthday message to Milan on their welcome card, such an awesome added touch.

Our Room: Queen Deluxe Studio

The room was very cozy.  We had a Queen Deluxe Studio Room that had a patio that overlooked the village.  It was also equipped with a small kitchen that included a stove, sink, and a mini-fridge.

My favorite part about the stay was waking up every morning with a coffee cup in hand, and hanging out on the patio.

They also have a fireplace that you can cozy up to on those cold winter nights or mornings (one of Milan’s favorite features).

The bathrooms are all equipped with deluxe handsoap, body cream, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. They also provide a hairdryer.

I love the quirky and bright feel of the room and the cute little stuffed animal they left on the bed for Milan.

Some key features of the room include:

  • Fully equipped kitchenette
  • telephone and iPad
  • Adorable stuffed monster
  • full bathroom with tub and hairdryer
  • Hamilton Beach single-serve coffee maker
  • Snack and beverage selection
  • Malin+ Goetz toiletries
  • Bathrobes
  • Sealy Mattress
  • Complimentary Wifi
  • Flatscreen TV
  • Fireplace
  • Fresh towels and linens upon request
  • Custom furniture and artwork

Summit Lodge Hotel Pet Policy

So, the best thing about Summit Lodge is that they are pet-friendly. You may bring your dog(s) if you inform the hotel prior to your arrival so that they can allocate a pet-friendly room upon your arrival. All dogs need to be registered upon check-in, and they are not to be left unattended in rooms.

Restaurants in the Summit Lodge Hotel

Elements Urban Tapas Parlour

one of my all-time favorite breakfast/brunch restaurants called Elements Urban Tapas Parlour is located directly in the hotel.

Their brunch is amazing. So flavorful and really great options to choose from. They also have vegan and dairy-free options as well which is a win-win for me because I am dairy-free and egg-free.

Their menu is served all day and I’ve heard their dinner menu is also fantastic.  They love to change their menu around which I love, and their ingredients are all local and seasonal.

They are known for the best breakfast in Whistler, so you don’t want to miss out on that.

Also, their service is EXCEPTIONAL.  As I mentioned, I am egg-free and dairy-free and our waitress was so kind and allowed me to change whatever I wanted on the menu (she was very patient). She also quickly served Milan a piece of toast as soon as we sat down because she could tell that he was super hungry.

We love Elements!

The Drop Coffee Bar

Their coffee was great! They are a casual specialty coffee bar specializing in organic Espresso drinks and beverages.

I ordered a coffee every morning of our stay once we head out to town.

Due to Covid, you can’t go inside the coffee shop, but you can order directly outside the hotel at a window on the righthand side of the main doors. They also have snacks that you can choose from as well.

Sachi Sushi

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try Sachi Sushi, but it’s on our list for the next time we head up to Whistler.

Sachi Sushi uses the finest and freshest fish for their creative rolls and sashimi.  People call Sachi Sushi, Whistler’s finest sushi house and I can’t wait to check it out next time we go.

Our experience at Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel was absolutely amazing. Everything from the check-in to the check-out was superb.

Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel also has a spa, which unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to check out this time.  But if you have a chance, make sure you go.

I would like to say thank you again to Summit Lodge Boutique Hotel for inviting us to stay at your beautiful, and quirky hotel. Our stay was everything & we couldn’t have asked for a better birthday trip for Milan.
