Being a mom, in general, is the most amazing feeling in the whole world. It’s an unconditional love that you can’t express into words. But being a Millenial mom is a whole other story. Back when our parents became parents, the world was such a different place. There was no facetime or even webcam chatting, there was no online shopping to make your life easier, and there were no mommy blogs to help you out in life.
Being a mother in this day and age comes with so many perks. Here is a list of the reasons why I love being a Millenial Mama.

Online Shopping (Amazon)
If you’ve read any of my other posts, then you know that I LOVE online shopping and I LOVE Amazon even more. Were so lucky that we can shop right through our phones/laptops and get it delivered right to our door.
While I was pregnant I purchased all of my son’s baby clothes online (it became a really bad habit, and hasn’t stopped yet). It’s hard going to the mall for hours on end especially if you’re pregnant, and were so lucky to have the luxury of being able to purchase things online in the comfort of your own home.
My baby shower was also through Amazon as well. I tried going to Buy Buy Baby to create a registry and was so overwhelmed and tired, that I decided to just do it through Amazon. They also have a great return policy just in case things didn’t turn out the way I expected. Also, for people purchasing the gifts for you, they also don’t have to leave the house to purchase it, it’ll come straight to their doorstep (win-win).
Amazon is also the BOMB because you can get anything from groceries to formula to diapers right to your doorstep. It’s so much easier than having to leave the house (sometimes with a baby), and getting all these items multiple times a week.
Most if not all of the baby products I do buy are through Amazon. I have an Amazon Prime account and get all of the products I buy shipped in 1-2 days. I highly recommend starting a free 30-day trial to test it out, I know you’ll love it! Amazon Prime also includes a video streaming service, exclusive shopping deals, generous price breaks for students, and more. Click this link here to get your free 30-day trial.
FaceTime and Video Call
honestly, what would we do without FaceTime? I probably get around 2 to 4 FaceTime calls a day (obviously not to see me). I should rephrase that, Milan gets around 2 to 4 FaceTime calls a day. It’s so nice that family and friends can call whenever they want and be able to see Milan.
We have close family that lives in Calgary who are Milan’s older cousins. They all get to see each other almost every day, which I love because it doesn’t seem like anyone is missing out. they get to be a part of each other’s lives, and when the time comes for a visit it’s like there was nothing missed out on them growing up.
Digital Pictures/Camera & Video Phone
One thing that I like looking back from when I was a kid are the hundreds of pictures and home videos. It’s like a time capsule that you can watch over and over again, and I’m so happy my parents created such lovely memories for us to look back on.
But imagine carrying those big ass cameras and video recorders all day long. Sorry, with all the other baby items that I’m lugging around, hell no. Being a Millenial mom, were so lucky to have iPhones or any digital phone for that matter. It makes capturing all your favorite moments so much easier, with just one device. If anyone asks me to send a picture of Milan I can do it in a matter of seconds.
My plan is to have just as many home videos of my son that I had, so that he can look back when he’s older and enjoy all of the memories we created for him.
Netflix & Video Streaming Services
This is a game-changer. Imagine having to watch The Price is Right 24/7 on a weekday while taking care of a baby (to be honest, I freaking love the Price is Right). But it can be boring watching the same old stuff all day every day.
Netflix has changed the way people watch T.V. You can binge-watch your favorite shows hours on end, and when that show is finished then you can start a brand new one. You can watch old shows that you’ve seen a million times already (Like Friends, Full House, And Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), or even murder mystery documentaries (my personal fav).
Mommy Blogs and YouTube Vlogs
This might just have to be one of my favorite reasons why I love being a Millenial Mom. I don’t know what I would do without mommy blogs. I was and still am a Pinterest junkie. When I was pregnant, I spent a lot of time on Pinterest trying to prepare for my firstborn baby. There are so many tips and tricks out there, and so much advice, that It really helped me during and after my pregnancy. I still go on Pinterest for inspiration every day, and we are so lucky that we have all of this information at the hands of our fingertips.
I watched a lot of YouTube pregnancy and delivery vlogs to help me prepare for the birth of my son. My husband would always laugh at me because I’d always be watching Vlogs where women are in labor and get slightly nervous. But in the end, these video’s really helped me to understand the laboring process better, and all of the terms that come along with it.
Various Baby Products That Our Parents Never Had
When I was preparing my Amazon baby registry list, I sat my mom down to get some advice on what to keep and what not to keep. She actually laughed in my face and said
“What the hell, you don’t need half these things.”
Although it was confusing, I went with what I thought would be helpful for me. You see, our mom’s didn’t have things like bottle warmers, bottle sanitizers, diaper warmers, diaper pails, and the list goes on. So they think it’s a waste of money because they managed to go through many children without them.
In the end, I figured out what would be helpful for me, and listed it on my registry. You’ll figure out once the baby is here if you really need it or if you should return it. I absolutely love my bottle warmer and find it so much easier to warm bottles than to put it on the stovetop in boiling water.
